Fairfield is currently under extreme COVID-19 lockdown measures, with residents unable to leave the Local Government Area apart from very few exceptions. As a result, local businesses have suffered severely, with many closing up shop. Fairfield is a diverse suburb, with a large representation of Arabic, Vietnamese and Chinese speakers.
