With the fear of the virus spreading in enclosed, crowded environments and suspicions that it can be communicated by traces left on surfaces, such as handles and seating, fewer and fewer people are using public transport. In addition, with many people now working from home, the crowds at Central Station are gone.
Warning signs are visible around train stations across Sydney and hand sanitiser dispensers are located at entry and exit points.
Social distancing measures have been introduced as well. All seating on platforms has been taped off, forcing passengers to sit at least one seat apart.
